Dean Bruce Kidd honoured by Dalhousie University

Oct 22/07

Dean Bruce Kidd’s legacy as an Olympian, advocate and educator was honoured this weekend when Dalhousie University presented him with an honourary degree recognizing his lifelong commitment to health, human rights and the international community.

Professor Lori Livingstone -director of the School of Health and Human Performance- together with her colleagues nominated Kidd for the honour.

The convocation was held Saturday October 20th. “It was an honour to be recognized by an institution that shares our philosophy about the fundamental links between education, human rights health and physical activity,” says Kidd.

The Dalhousie’s School of Health and Human Performance is celebrating its 40th anniversary. Kidd on Friday participated in a panel discussion entitled “Physical Activity, Health Promotion and Changing Social Norms” that was one component of the larger anniversary celebration.  Kidd joined Phyllis Berck from the City of Toronto and Susan Tirone from Dalhousie University in leading the discussion.
