Athletic Centre starts new year with a free open house
Active U open house scheduled during lunch and evening hours
Jan 10/08
While the new year is a great time to renew your health and fitness goals, getting started can be daunting. The Athletic Centre is making planning a little easier by launching a new series of introductory fitness classes and inviting the public to an open house on January 16th.
Some of the facility’s most popular classes — including cycle fit, yoga and Nia — are now being offered at a 101 level for beginners. “These introductory classes, which are free to Athletic Centre members, are great for improving overall fitness,” says Ranka van Voorst, a fitness and movement instructor at the Athletic Centre. “The 101 classes introduce participants to the most important fundamentals of activities like yoga, Pilates or cycle fit.”
Both members and non-members of the Athletic Centre can get of taste of these and other activities at the free open house on January 16th, held in collaboration with U of T’s ActiveU program. Sessions, which run from 12:00 – 2:00p.m. and 5:00 – 7:00p.m, include Kundalini yoga, cardio kick, cycle fit, hip hop, fencing and swimming classes.
Everyone is welcome.
