Course Descriptions

Mini-Health School is back after a successful first year. This unique educational opportunity, offered by U of T’s Faculty of Physical Education and Health, is targeted to a general audience and combines non-academic health science classes with practical sessions led by our renowned faculty members.

Mini Health School includes some of the most cutting-edge research on health, nutrition, exercise trends and aging. The sessions will be held Monday evenings. The lecture portion will be held from 6:30-8:00 p.m. and the practical session will be held from 8:00 – 9:30 p.m

Participants will gain valuable insight into:

  • The best way to start or maintain a healthy lifestyle
  • The latest research surrounding exercise and heart health
  • Nutrition fundamentals
  • The latest research about exercise and aging
  • The relationship between mood and exercise
  • "Big picture" influences (culture, environment, etc.) on health and your health quest

Participants will also receive hands-on experience with:

  • "How-to” exercise sessions
  • Nutritional assessments
  • Stress reduction strategies

Sessions will also include a Q & A opportunity, fitness instruction and nutritional counseling.

Participants will walk away with:

  • An understanding of the latest research on health and physical fitness
  • A health and fitness assessment
  • A recommended nutrition plan
  • Recommended exercises and techniques to reduce stress
  • A University of Toronto Mini-Health School certificate of participation
