Prerequisites
Entrance to first year is offered to candidates who graduate from the Ontario secondary school program with above average standing in a full academic program. Students must obtain standing in six courses including:
. English (ENG4U)
. Biology (SBI4U)
. Advanced Functions (MHF4U) or Calculus and Vectors (MCV4U)
. Exercise Science (PSE4U) - if offered
. Two additional 'U' or 'M' courses: Chemistry (SCH4U) and Physics (SPH4U) recommended
When Exercise Science (PSE4U) is not presented, the student may use another Grade 12 U/M course and also provide a letter from his/her high school explaining the circumstances that have prevented him/her from doing so. All applicants must present the English, Math and Biology requirements.
Students who are required to present an acceptable English facility test result are exempt from the Grade 12 English I/English (ENG4U) requirement and may substitute another Grade 12 U/M course in its place.
New math requirement
The math requirement for candidates applying to the BPHE and BPHE/CTEP option will be MHF4U or MCV4U or their equivalent from the old curriculum. Where both courses are presented, the higher of the two marks will be used to calculate the admission average. In cases where both courses form part of the top six best grade 12 scores, they will both be used in calculating the student's admission average. Mathematics of Data Management MDM4U will not be accepted in fulfillment of the math requirement.
Repeated/online/summer courses
The Faculty reserves the right to give priority to candidates whose marks, especially in required courses, are the result of a first attempt at each course.

Admission Average
An applicant's admission average is determined by their grades in the four required prerequisite courses and two additional U/M courses to a total of six credits. In cases where an applicant has repeated a course the Faculty reserves the right to give priority to candidates whose marks, especially in required courses, are the result of a first attempt at each course.The admission cut-off average in recent years has fallen in the B+ to A- range with the admission average mean being in the A range. All applicants are advised to score grade in the A range to be competitive for admission.
Additional Requirements
All applicants must demonstrate:a) a commitment to a lifestyle of physical activity as a means of maintaining health; and
b) leadership experience in some aspect of the broad field of physical and health education.
A Statement of Interest including the name and contact information of one referee is required of all applicants to both the B.P.H.E. Program and CTEP option. Information on the completion of this form will be provided to applicants in mid January. Applications will not be considered without the completed online Statement of Interest.
CTEP Applicants
Applicants to the Concurrent Teacher Education Program (CTEP) must complete and submit a CTEP Applicant Profile for which a $32.00 (CDN) fee will be charged. The deadline to submit the Profile is February 15. The Profile and further details are available at the CTEP website.English Facility
All applicants to the University of Toronto must be able to demonstrate proof of English facility. To find out if you are required to provide proof of English Facility to the University of Toronto please visit their English Facility webpage. Students who must submit proof of English Facility should do so by the April 1st document deadline.Statement of Interest
All applicants must complete the on-line Statement of Interest to be considered for admission. Students who do not complete the Statement of Interest will be disqualified. The deadline to submit the Statement of Interest is March 15 for BPHE applicants and February 15 for CTEP Applicants. Applicants with Gr.11 averages in the 90% range and who are enrolled in the required Gr.12 pre-requisite courses may be considered for early conditional offers if their Statement of Interest is received by February 1st.Click here to go to the Statement of Interest.
