A Teaching Health Centre
The Faculty of Physical Education and Health is a teaching health centre, where research and academic teaching about physical activity are conducted alongside the co-curricular programs. From time to time, participants may be asked to be subjects in research; participation in research is entirely voluntary. We ask all participants, parents and guardians to be respectful of the learning environment.
Swimming
The swimming portion of Camp U of T is very important to our campers and parents. Some sport and adventure camps feature daily swimming. Others swim once or twice a week. Mini-University modules alternate physical activity days with swim days. Campers are supervised at all times by their counsellors and certified lifeguards while swimming. Minisport and half day Multisport do not swim.
To swim in deep water, all participants must complete a swim assessment consisting of jumping into deep water and submerging, then a 25-metre front swim, followed by one minute of treading water. Both the 50m and 25 yd pools are all deep water.
For participants who choose not to attempt the swim assessment or who do not complete the assessment, the 3-foot-deep teach pool may be available. Participants who swim in any pool other than the teach pool will be given a wrist band marking which pool they swim in. Please leave the wrist band on for the entire camp session.
